Limited edition of this fine press fairy tale, number 368 of 500 copies illustrated by Swiss artist Felix Hoffmann (1911-1975). The story of the enduring love of an unlucky toy soldier for his paper ballerina, Hans Christian Andersen’s “The Steadfast Tin Soldier” has been a rich source of inspiration for graphic and performing artists since its first publication in 1838. Hoffmann’s woodcuts, with their bold geometric forms and dramatic use of layered color, represent a modern expressionistic interpretation. Text in German. A very good copy of a striking artist’s book.
