Original watercolor by comic artist Charles Berberian, depicting shoppers strolling through the stalls of a Paris flower market. This illustration was published in Paris: City Guide BD (2014), one of the “Itinéraires” series issued by travel publisher Lonely Planet and Franco-Belgian comics giant Casterman. Inspired by graphic novels, the “Itinéraires” guides offered offbeat city tours proposed by local writers, illustrated with bandes dessinnées by renowned comic book artists. Promising “un nouveau visage de la capitale,” the Paris guide features text by travel writer Olivier Bauer alongside expressive, deceptively casual brushwork by Berberian, best known for his award-winning comic series Monsieur Jean, created with Philippe Dupuy. A springtime-perfect illustration.
