Buvards

Mulhouse: Société Anonyme Française des Grands Magasins Au Louvre, circa 1930. Side-stapled folio, measuring 12.75 x 9.75 inches: [24]. Original heavy grey wrappers printed in purple. Text printed on absorbent blotting paper, illustrations throughout text.

An unusual promotional survival: a bound collection of advertising buvards, disposable writing blotters, issued by a chain of department stores located in smaller cities throughout France. Here are illustrated blotters representing a variety of luxury goods for sale at the Grands Magasins au Louvre: fancy soaps and toothpastes, shaving articles, hair tonics, laundry detergent, perfumes, chocolates, wines. Not located in OCLC. A snapshot of interwar commercial and typographic styles, in fine condition, of interest to both graphic designers and cultural historians.

Price: $250.00
