First edition of Maira Kalman’s ebullient first picture book, inspired by David Byrne’s lyrics to “Stay Up Late,” a radio hit for Talking Heads in 1985: “See him drink / from a bottle. / See him eat / from a plate. / Cute, cute / as a button. / Don't you want to make him / stay up late?” Kalman had first collaborated with Byrne years earlier, when (as Maira Berman) she designed the album sleeve for his 1981 EP, 3 Big Songs. A colorful Memphis-style exploration of sibling rivalry, in very good condition.
